Guitar Hero 5 é a quinta edição da famosa franquia que gerou a febre dos jogos de ritmo e música nos videogames. Desta vez, o foco está numa experiência completamente social, que visa divertir grandes grupos sem interrupções.

Basicamente, a fórmula básica de jogabilidade continua a mesma, diferenciando-se apenas por pequenas novas adições e bônus. Entretanto, a grande novidade é modo “Party Play”, que permite aos jogadores desfrutarem de diversas músicas sem a necessidade de ter de acessar diversos menus.

No modo “Party Play” os gamers podem entrar e sair do jogo quando desejarem, sem interromper a música — as faixas são executadas em sequência, como em um jukebox. Além disso, é possível tocar os mesmos instrumentos em qualquer música, ou seja, você e seus amigos podem utilizar quatro guitarras para uma só faixa.

Há também o “RockFest”, modo que conta com diversas modalidades de competição, como “Momentum”, “Elimination”, “Perfectionist”, “Do-or-Die” e “Streakers”, nas quais até oito jogadores participam com um só instrumento.

O estilo musical é um dos mais variados da série, envolvendo desde rock clássico, funk dos anos 70 e músicas comtemporâneas.
